Press release for Beauty & Hope in the 21st century by Nikolas Sideris
On Tuesday, 4th of Feburary the music publishing house Editions Musica Ferrum announced their new project titled Beauty & Hope in the 21st century.
In an ambitious effort to offer a new perspective on beauty and hope 9 composers from Greece, Spain, the Netherlands, the UK and USA join their forces in a collaborative project with 3 sketch artists from Polland, Japan and the UK.
Drawing inspiration from the 9 B&W illustrations that were delivered by the sketch artists, the composers are working on unique works for solo piano, to be recorded by Greek pianist Myrto Akrivou in September 2014. In the fall of 2014 the music score, the CD, the double LP and the hard cover artbook will also be completed and available.
Sometimes it feels that our lives are being surrounded by misery, depression and fear. While we are not impervious to any of these we do feel that sometimes we need to focus on something more beautiful or hopeful, even if it's not easy to be found.
This is our effort to leave a tiny footprint for those who follow us; our impression of what is happening in the world right now, while attempting to filter it through a hopeful point of view.
In order for this ambitious project to be funded the publishers launched a campaign on the largest crowd funding platform, kickstarter. In kickstarter one can offer their pledges in exchange for rewards to be delivers once available.
It should be noted that kickstarter works with an “all or nothing” philosophy which means that if the budget is not met, by the end of the campaign, no money exchange takes place.
We invite you to follow the link to the kickstarter page, to view the video and pledge, or share the news with others.
